EdgeEver: Stored cross-site scripting in memo drag preview
Summary
EdgeEver through version 1.112.0 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the setMemoDragPreview function. An attacker who can set notebook names or memo titles, for example through the MCP create_notebook, rename_notebook or create_memo tools, can inject script that runs when a victim drags the affected item. The script can access the desktop bridge's session token.
Affected
- EdgeEver 0.1.0 up to and including 1.112.0 (per CVE record and VulnCheck)
- Conflicting data: OSV also lists 1.112.0 as fixed in a separate range; unresolved
- Versions 2.x are not confirmed as affected or unaffected
Fixed in
Unknown. No vendor advisory with a confirmed fixed version was found. A patch commit is referenced in the CVE data but its content could not be verified.
Workaround
- No vendor workaround found.
- Restrict who can create or rename notebooks and memos, including MCP tokens.
- Treat notebook and memo titles from untrusted sources as hostile.
- Do not expose the instance to the internet unless required.
Exploitation
- Not known to be exploited; not listed in CISA KEV.
- No public proof of concept found.
- CISA SSVC: exploitation status PoC, not automatable.
- Requires an authenticated user or MCP token and user interaction (drag action).
Our recommendation
- Identify whether EdgeEver is in use (Docker, Cloudflare or desktop app) and which version.
- Ask the vendor via GitHub issues #534 or #546 to confirm the fixed version.
- Update to a confirmed fixed release, or restrict access until then.
- Limit accounts and MCP tokens that can write notebook or memo names.
- Monitor for unexpected changes to notebook and memo titles.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
