LogicalDOC Community Edition: Unauthenticated upload causes disk exhaustion
Summary
LogicalDOC Community Edition up to and including 9.3 contains an unauthenticated file upload weakness in the UploadServlet. A remote attacker can send repeated multipart requests with unlimited file parts to /upload without a session, and the files persist in temporary directories that are not cleaned up. This can exhaust the server disk and cause a denial of service for the document management system and other services on the same disk. Confidentiality and integrity are not affected according to the CVSS vector.
Affected
- LogicalDOC Community Edition up to and including 9.3
Fixed in
Unknown.
Workaround
- Restrict access to the /upload endpoint at a reverse proxy or firewall until a fixed version is applied.
- Monitor disk usage and the temporary upload directory of the LogicalDOC server.
- Set up alerts for low free disk space.
Exploitation
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact partial.
- No evidence of exploitation in the wild in the sources reviewed.
- No public proof of concept found in the sources reviewed.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all LogicalDOC Community instances and check whether any are reachable from the internet.
- Identify the first fixed release by reviewing the vendor commit 90b7ebea5330feab94aff5ef0573362f3e52a1cc and discussion #119, then apply it.
- Until patched, restrict access to /upload and monitor disk space on systems that host LogicalDOC data.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
LogicalDOC Community Edition through 9.3 contains an unauthenticated file upload vulnerability in the UploadServlet that allows remote attackers to write files to disk without a session. Attackers can repeatedly send multipart requests with unlimited file parts to /upload, persisting files in uncleaned temporary directories and exhausting server disk space.
