Summary

Tanium fixed a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the End-User Notifications component of Endpoint Configuration Toolset Solution and end-user-cx. Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found at the time of research.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV (according to a third-party tracker).
  • No public proof of concept found.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory Tanium Client and end-user-cx versions on all endpoints and compare them with the fixed versions.
  • Apply the vendor updates, starting with privileged and exposed endpoints.
  • In addition, deploy the ECM manifests via Change Management as listed in the vendor bulletin (on-prem: 2.13.327, 2.21.324 or 2.35.252 or later; Tanium Cloud: 2.40.197, 2.42.152, 2.44.102 or 2.46.75 or later).
  • Monitor the vendor bulletin and NVD for changes.

Public exploits
