Jivejdon: Weak password storage with unsalted MD5 hashes

CVE-2026-107829High 8.2

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Jivejdon through version 5.0 stores account passwords as unsalted MD5 digests. An attacker who can read the user table, for example through a database breach or SQL injection, can crack many of these passwords offline using precomputed tables or GPU attacks. The CNA rates the issue CVSS v4.0 8.2 (High), while other sources rate it CVSS v3.1 5.9 (Medium).

Affected

  • banq Jivejdon, versions 0 through 5.0 (inclusive), according to the CVE record
  • Later versions: Unknown.

Fixed in

Unknown. No fixed version or vendor patch was found at the time of research.

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround is available.
  • Restrict database access to the Jivejdon host and its database user.
  • Keep the application patched against SQL injection.

Exploitation

  • No exploitation in the wild has been found.
  • VulDB reports no public exploit is available.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact partial.
  • The CVE attack requires prior read access to the user table.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether Jivejdon is in use and whether any version up to 5.0 is exposed.
  • Restrict database access and monitor for unusual queries to the user table.
  • Force password resets for all accounts, especially administrators, and check for password reuse on other systems.
  • Plan a migration to another platform or wait for a vendor fix that uses a salted, adaptive hash such as bcrypt, scrypt, Argon2id or PBKDF2.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
