Google Chrome: Use-after-free in V8 allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-106349High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A use-after-free vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine of Google Chrome allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attack requires that a user visits a crafted HTML page, for example through a link in a phishing email or a malicious website. Code execution inside the sandbox alone does not give full control of the system; a separate sandbox escape would be needed.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.39
  • Chromium-based products that ingest this fix, for example Microsoft Edge, need to be checked separately

Fixed in

  • Chrome 155 Stable channel update of 6 October 2026, build 155.0.8059.39 or later (Linux)
  • Windows/Mac build numbers are reported inconsistently between sources; verify against the vendor release post

Workaround

  • No workaround documented. Install the fixed Chrome version.

Exploitation

  • Not known to be exploited in the wild. CISA SSVC (via ADP): exploitation none, automatable no.
  • No public proof of concept found.

Our recommendation

  • Update Chrome to 155.0.8059.39 or later on all endpoints, and verify the installed version.
  • Enforce updates centrally via Chrome Enterprise policy or your endpoint management tool.
  • Check Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based applications and components for the fixed version.
  • Treat as a high-priority browser update, not an emergency.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
