Google Chrome: Type confusion in ANGLE allows sandbox escape

CVE-2026-106293High 8.3

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Type confusion in ANGLE, the graphics translation layer of Google Chrome before 155.0.8059.39 (CVE-2026-106293, CWE-843). An attacker who has already compromised the renderer process can potentially execute arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. Chromium rates the bug High, and the CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.3.

Affected

  • Google Chrome (desktop) prior to 155.0.8059.39
  • Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera, etc.): Unknown.

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39 for Linux
  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39/.40 for Windows and macOS (per secondary sources; verify against the Chrome advisory)
  • Later stable builds 155.0.8059.79/.80 (Windows, macOS) and 155.0.8059.79 (Linux) were reported on October 13, 2026. Install the newest stable build.

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor workaround is known. Apply the update.

Exploitation

  • Not known to be exploited in the wild. The CISA KEV catalog does not list it.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC assessment: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Confirm that every Chrome installation runs the newest stable build and that auto-update is not disabled.
  • Prioritise endpoints that are behind on updates.
  • Check Chromium-based browsers and Linux packages separately.
  • Inventory Chrome versions across all endpoints.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
