Google Chrome: Missing authorization in Workers allows site isolation bypass

CVE-2026-106271High 8.1

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Missing authorization in the Workers component of Google Chrome allows a remote attacker to bypass site isolation via a crafted PDF file. The attacker must first have compromised the renderer process, for example with a separate browser exploit, so this is a second-stage flaw. NVD rates it 8.1 (High) under CVSS 3.1, and Chromium rates it as Medium severity.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.39
  • Chromium-based browsers and Linux packages that include the affected Chromium code: Unknown, check the respective vendor advisories

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39 or later (Windows and Mac: 155.0.8059.39/.40)
  • Debian bookworm: 155.0.8059.39-1~deb12u1
  • Microsoft Edge: Unknown, not verified

Workaround

No workaround. Install the vendor update.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found.
  • CISA ADP Vulnrichment does not mark the CVE as known exploited.
  • Public proof of concept: none found.
  • EPSS: about 0.2% (low).

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 155.0.8059.39 or later on all workstations and check that auto-updates are working.
  • Check Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Linux hosts with Chromium packages for current builds.
  • Keep site isolation enabled. This does not fix the flaw but adds a layer of defence.
  • Monitor for unusual browser crashes or PDF-related incidents.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
