Google Chrome: Incorrect authorization in Autofill allows data disclosure

CVE-2026-106212High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome versions before 155.0.8059.39 contain an incorrect authorization flaw in the Autofill component. A remote attacker who uses social engineering can obtain sensitive information by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. The victim must open the page, but no privileges are required. Google rates the issue Medium severity internally.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.39 (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • The CVE record lists the affected range as "155.0.8059.39 to < 155.0.8059.39", which is inconsistent; the vendor and OSV data indicate the range is prior to 155.0.8059.39.

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39 or later (Linux)
  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39/.40 or later (Windows and macOS, per the vendor advisory)
  • Debian: 155.0.8059.39-1~deb12u1
  • SUSE: chromium 155.0.8059.39
  • Ubuntu: the chromium-browser package is marked not affected because it installs a Chromium snap; check the snap channel version directly.

Workaround

No workaround is documented. Unknown.

  • Updating to the fixed build is the only known measure.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC (Vulnrichment): exploitation none, not automatable, technical impact partial.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV; no confirmed exploitation in the wild.
  • No public proof of concept found.

Our recommendation

  • Update all Chrome installations to 155.0.8059.39 or later (Windows and macOS: 155.0.8059.39/.40 or later) and restart the browser.
  • For managed fleets, move Chrome to a release channel and push the update centrally.
  • Verify the installed version on all endpoints, including Linux systems and Chromium packages.
  • Reinforce phishing awareness, since the attack depends on a victim opening a crafted page.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
