Google Chrome: Use-after-free in Track component allows code execution

CVE-2026-106200High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A use-after-free vulnerability (CWE-416) in the Track component of Google Chrome before 155.0.8059.39 can be exploited remotely. An attacker can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. The attack needs no authentication but requires that the user loads the page. The CVSS base score is 8.8 (High).

Affected

  • Google Chrome (desktop) prior to 155.0.8059.39
  • Chromium packages in Linux distributions prior to the fixed builds listed below
  • Microsoft Edge: the fixed Edge build could not be verified; check Microsoft's release notes

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39 (Linux)
  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39/.40 (Windows and macOS, according to the research notes; verify on the Chrome Releases post, as one third-party source contradicts this)
  • Debian bookworm chromium 155.0.8059.39-1~deb12u1
  • Chainguard Wolfi chromium 155.0.8059.39-r0
  • SUSE / openSUSE chromium 155.0.8059.39

Workaround

No workaround documented. Update Chrome and restart the browser.

Exploitation

  • No known exploitation in the wild at the time of writing.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV. CISA SSVC data lists exploitation as none and automatable as no.
  • No public proof of concept found; this does not prove that none exists.

Our recommendation

  • Check the Chrome version on every endpoint and confirm it is 155.0.8059.39 or later (or the matching Chromium package version on Linux).
  • Force a browser update and restart Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.
  • Patch within your normal critical browser update window, prioritising workstations with web browsing exposure.
  • Check whether a phased rollout has left some machines without the fixed build.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
