Google Chrome: Use-after-free in HTML parser allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-106193High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome versions before 155.0.8059.39 contain a use-after-free flaw in the HTML parser (CWE-416). A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. The victim must visit the page, but no login is required. Sandbox code execution is usually one stage of a larger attack chain and not a full system compromise on its own.

Affected

  • Google Chrome for Desktop prior to 155.0.8059.39 (Linux)
  • Google Chrome for Desktop prior to 155.0.8059.39/.40 (Windows, macOS)
  • Chromium-based builds from distributions that include the affected Chromium version

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39 (Linux)
  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.39/.40 (Windows, macOS)
  • Debian: 155.0.8059.39-1~deb12u1
  • openSUSE Tumbleweed: chromium 155.0.8059.39-1.1
  • SUSE Package Hub 15 SP7: 155.0.8059.39-bp157.2.241.1

Workaround

No vendor workaround documented. Updating is the fix.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no
  • Not listed in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog
  • No public proof of concept or in-the-wild exploitation found in the research
  • EPSS is about 0.3% (low likelihood)

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 155.0.8059.39 or later (155.0.8059.39/.40 on Windows and macOS) on all endpoints and verify the build number at chrome://version.
  • Restart browsers after the update, because the new version only takes effect after a restart.
  • Refresh snap-based Chromium installs through snapd and update other Chromium-based browsers (for example Edge) to their vendor's fixed build.
  • Patch within the normal browser update cycle; this is not an emergency unless exploitation is reported.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
