EnergizeLab station-middleware: Missing authorization in admin APIs
Summary
The NestJS-based station-middleware Docker images 1.6.5 through 1.8.2 do not check user roles on administrative APIs. Any authenticated user with low privileges can retrieve AI provider keys and change configuration and object-store contents. The attack requires only a valid low-privilege login and no user interaction.
Affected
- EnergizeLab station-middleware Docker images 1.6.5 through 1.8.2
- Default configuration: unaffected (according to the CVE record)
Fixed in
Unknown. No fixed version has been confirmed; no vendor advisory was found.
Workaround
- Restrict network access to the admin endpoints or the whole middleware to trusted management networks
- Review and remove unneeded low-privilege accounts
- Check logs for unexpected configuration changes
These are analyst suggestions, not vendor guidance.
Exploitation
- No evidence of exploitation in the wild found; CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total
- Not listed in KEV according to Strix
- No public PoC documented in the consulted sources; a finder repository exists but its contents were not reviewed
Our recommendation
- Check whether any client runs EnergizeLab station-middleware in the affected version range
- If it is in use, restrict access to the admin endpoints and the login portal now
- Rotate AI provider keys and object-store credentials if exposure is possible
- Monitor logs for unexpected configuration changes and watch for a vendor advisory and fixed version
- Treat the CVSS 9.6 critical rating as the priority; VulDB's 6.3 rating understates the impact
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
