Sunshine Photo Cart WordPress plugin: Unauthenticated PHP Object Injection
Summary
The Sunshine Photo Cart WordPress plugin up to and including version 3.7.4 deserializes untrusted input without authentication. An unauthenticated remote attacker can inject a PHP object through the vulnerable entry point, which is reachable via a public favorites page. The plugin itself contains no known POP chain, so direct impact is currently not established; if another installed plugin or theme provides a POP chain, an attacker could delete files, retrieve sensitive data or execute code.
Affected
- Sunshine Photo Cart plugin for WordPress, all versions up to and including 3.7.4
- Default configuration: unaffected (per CVE record, the affected range is 0 to <= 3.7.4)
Fixed in
Unknown. The CVE record does not name a fixed version. Patchstack lists 3.7.5 as the latest version, but this has not been confirmed as the fix.
Workaround
- Deactivate the plugin until a fixed version is confirmed
- Restrict public access to the favorites page with a WAF or access controls
- Audit and remove other plugins and themes that contain deserialization gadget chains
Exploitation
- CISA KEV: not listed according to a third-party aggregator; verify on the CISA catalog
- Public proof of concept: none known according to VulDB
- CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact total
- No in-the-wild exploitation evidence found
Our recommendation
- Identify all WordPress sites with the plugin and check their version
- For sites at 3.7.4 or below, deactivate the plugin or restrict the favorites page until a fix is confirmed
- Check the WordPress.org changelog and the Trac changeset for the fixed version, then update
- Audit other plugins and themes for known deserialization gadget chains
- Monitor CISA KEV and the Wordfence and Patchstack entries for changes
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
The Sunshine Photo Cart – Client Photo Gallery & Photo Proofing for Photographers plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection in all versions up to, and including, 3.7.4 via deserialization of untrusted input . This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject a PHP Object. No known POP chain is present in the vulnerable software, which means this vulnerability has no impact unless another plugin or theme containing a POP chain is installed on the site. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it may allow the attacker to perform actions like delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code depending on the POP chain present. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, the attacker can store the malicious payload unauthenticated via the public favorites page and trigger deserialization by viewing any image in a non-viewable or private gallery.
