Mobile Security Framework: OS command injection via APK package name

CVE-2026-104585Critical 9.8Public exploit

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) v4.5.2 is affected by a command injection vulnerability in the Dynamic Analyzer ADB integration, reachable through /download_data/ and /api/v1/scan. The package attribute of an uploaded APK is used unvalidated in ADB commands and file paths. An attacker who submits a crafted APK may be able to execute commands on the Android VM and perform path traversal on the MobSF host. The CVE description does not state any authentication requirement.

Affected

  • Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) v4.5.2 (according to the CVE description)
  • Versions before 4.5.2: Unknown.

Fixed in

Unknown. No fixed version has been identified.

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround identified.
  • Do not expose MobSF instances to untrusted users or the internet.
  • Disable dynamic analysis if it is not needed.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation poc, automatable yes, technical impact total.
  • The discoverer's repository describes reproduction steps; these were not verified.
  • Not listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
  • No evidence of observed attacks found; in-the-wild exploitation is unknown.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether MobSF is in use and whether it is reachable from untrusted networks.
  • Restrict access to MobSF to trusted users and networks, ideally behind authentication.
  • Run MobSF in an isolated environment, such as a dedicated VM or container, with limited privileges.
  • Monitor the upstream project for a fix and update as soon as one is available.
  • Only analyse APKs from trusted sources until the issue is resolved.
