YesWiki: SQL injection in Bazar filtertags action
Summary
YesWiki before 4.6.7 contains an SQL injection flaw in the Bazar filtertags action, where filterN tag tokens are concatenated unescaped into an SQL IN clause. On default installs an unauthenticated attacker can save crafted filtertags markup in a page and use a MySQL backslash-escape breakout with a UNION subquery to read arbitrary database tables, such as password hashes. Installs that restrict page write access require an account with page write rights, which lowers the risk.
Affected
- YesWiki (Composer yeswiki/yeswiki) versions up to and including 4.6.6 according to the GitHub advisory; the CNA record lists all versions before 4.6.7.
- Older branches were not verified; treat every version below 4.6.7 as affected.
Fixed in
- Upgrade to YesWiki 4.6.7.
Workaround
- No vendor workaround known.
- Until the upgrade is done, restrict who can create or edit wiki pages and review existing pages for unusual filtertags markup.
Exploitation
- No exploitation in the wild known; not listed in CISA KEV.
- CISA SSVC: exploitation 'poc', automatable 'yes', technical impact 'partial'.
- The GitHub advisory contains a working proof of concept.
- EPSS 0.00281.
Our recommendation
- Upgrade all YesWiki instances below 4.6.7 to 4.6.7 as a priority, especially internet-facing ones.
- Check existing pages for unexpected filtertags markup and review admin and user accounts for unauthorised changes.
- If an instance was exposed while vulnerable, rotate user and admin passwords after patching.
- Restrict page edit rights to trusted users until patched.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
YesWiki before 4.6.7 contains an SQL injection vulnerability in the Bazar filtertags action, which wraps unescaped filterN attribute tokens in quotes and concatenates them into a raw tags.value IN (...) clause. Unauthenticated attackers on default installs can save filtertags markup in a page with a trailing-backslash token that breaks quote parity under MySQL backslash escaping. This lets them inject a five-column UNION subquery to read arbitrary table data such as password hashes.
