EagleCloud Aquila: Insufficiently protected credentials in on-premises deployment
Summary
EagleCloud Aquila on-premises versions through 2.6.7.2 expose access keys, secret keys and deployment secrets through the tunnel gateway and provisioning interfaces. According to Mandiant, an unauthenticated remote attacker can extract these high-privilege credentials from internet-facing endpoints and use them to bypass edge access proxies and impersonate administrative users. No user interaction is required, and the vulnerable endpoints are fully exposed to the internet. A fixed build is reported, and no exploitation is known.
Affected
- EagleCloud Aquila on-premises versions 0 to 2.6.7.2 (according to the CVE record and Mandiant)
- Cloud-hosted deployments are not described as affected.
Fixed in
- Version 2.6.7.3 (according to Mandiant)
- The public vendor advisory was still pending at publication. Unknown whether 2.6.7.3 is publicly downloadable; confirm with EagleCloud.
Workaround
- No vendor-documented workaround.
- Restrict access to the tunnel gateway and provisioning interfaces to the VPN or management network only (recommendation, not a vendor statement).
Exploitation
- Not known to be exploited in the wild.
- Not listed in the CISA KEV catalogue.
- No public proof-of-concept found. Mandiant does not publish exploit details.
Our recommendation
- Check whether Aquila is installed on-premises and whether its interfaces are reachable from the internet.
- Restrict access to the tunnel gateway and provisioning interfaces now.
- Confirm the availability of version 2.6.7.3 with EagleCloud and apply it as soon as possible.
- After patching, rotate access keys, secret keys and deployment secrets if the instance was exposed while vulnerable.
- Monitor logs for unexpected access to provisioning and administrative functions.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
