Adobe Photoshop: Out-of-bounds write allows code execution via crafted file

CVE-2026-104347High 7.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Adobe Photoshop Desktop contains an out-of-bounds write flaw. If a victim opens a malicious file, an attacker could execute arbitrary code with the rights of the current user. Adobe's bulletin APSB26-158 lists this CVE ID as a NULL pointer dereference causing denial of service (CVSS 5.5), which conflicts with the CVE record (CVSS 7.8, code execution); this entry treats it as high until Adobe or NVD confirms otherwise.

Affected

  • Photoshop 2026: 27.10 and earlier (Windows and macOS)
  • Photoshop 2025: 26.11.7 and earlier (Windows and macOS)

Fixed in

  • Photoshop 2026: 27.11
  • Photoshop 2025: 26.11.8

Workaround

  • Do not open files from untrusted sources in Photoshop until the update is installed.
  • Restrict Photoshop use for untrusted files and apply standard phishing controls.

Exploitation

  • Adobe is not aware of any exploits in the wild for the issues in this update.
  • ZDI lists APSB26-158 as not exploited, Deployment Priority 3.
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.
  • Exploitation requires a local user to open a crafted file, typically delivered by email, download or a shared design file.

Our recommendation

  • Update Photoshop 2026 to 27.11 or later and Photoshop 2025 to 26.11.8 or later, via the Creative Cloud desktop app or the Admin Console.
  • Prioritise users who open files from external sources and users with local admin rights.
  • Patch the whole APSB26-158 bulletin, as it contains about 18 Photoshop CVEs.
  • Re-check the NVD entry and the Adobe bulletin table for the severity and CWE conflict.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
