DataEase: Authenticated SQL injection via dataset field date format

CVE-2026-104143High 8.7

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

DataEase, an open source data visualization and analysis tool, allows authenticated users to store a crafted custom dateFormat value for a dataset field. When a chart renders such a field, the value is inserted into SQL date conversion templates without validation, so an attacker can alter the generated SQL. Successful exploitation can compromise the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the backend database; on single-datasource datasets the payload must also survive Calcite reserialization.

Affected

  • DataEase versions before 2.10.26

Fixed in

  • Fixed in DataEase 2.10.26
  • Later releases exist; verify whether the current release addresses this issue

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround known. Upgrading is the documented remedy.
  • Restrict dataset editing rights to trusted staff until the upgrade is done.
  • Review existing custom date-format values on dataset fields.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found. Not listed in CISA KEV.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Upgrade DataEase to 2.10.26 at minimum, or the current release after testing in a non-production environment.
  • Check whether your instance is internet-facing or shared with many users; prioritise accordingly.
  • Limit dataset-edit rights to trusted users and apply least privilege to the database account used by DataEase.
  • Review logs for unusual dataset field edits and database errors.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)

DataEase is an open source data visualization and analysis tool. Prior to 2.10.26, authenticated users can store a crafted custom dateFormat for a dataset field. DatasetTableFieldDTO.dateFormat is inserted without validation into date conversion templates used by Dimension2SQLObj, CustomWhere2Str, Field2SQLObj, WhereTree2Str, and ExtWhere2Str. When a chart renders the field on a cross-datasource dataset, Calcite parsing is bypassed and the crafted format can directly alter the generated SQL. On a single-datasource dataset, exploitation additionally requires the payload to survive Calcite reserialization as a valid string literal. Successful exploitation can compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the backend database. This issue is fixed in version 2.10.26.
