TVU Receiver / Transceiver: Missing authentication in REST API
Summary
TVU Receiver and Transceiver devices with firmware before 7.9 expose REST API endpoints without authentication. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can read network configuration, firmware details and cloud service information, and change device settings such as DNS. Altered DNS settings can enable man-in-the-middle attacks on outbound connections to TVU cloud infrastructure.
Affected
- TVU Receiver / Transceiver firmware before 7.9
- Exact model list: Unknown.
Fixed in
- Firmware 7.9 or later (per CODE WHITE; not yet confirmed by a TVU Networks bulletin)
Workaround
- No vendor workaround known.
- Restrict access to the web/REST interface (reported on port 8288) to a management VLAN or admin IP addresses and block it from the internet.
Exploitation
- CVSS 9.3 (v4.0), attack vector network, no privileges or user interaction required.
- No public proof of concept or exploit known in the sources reviewed.
- No reports of active exploitation found; CISA KEV status not verified.
- CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact total.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all TVU devices and their firmware versions.
- Remove any internet exposure of the devices immediately.
- Upgrade to firmware 7.9 or later after confirming the build and download with TVU Networks.
- Check DNS and network settings for unexpected changes.
- Patch together with CVE-2026-104075, which affects the same firmware range and is rated more severe.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
TVU Networks Receiver/Transceiver devices running firmware before version 7.9 contain a missing authentication vulnerability that allows remote unauthenticated attackers to read sensitive device information and modify device configuration via unprotected REST API endpoints. Attackers can send unauthenticated GET requests to disclose network configuration, firmware details, and cloud service information, or issue POST requests to endpoints such as /Setting3/API/API/v1/LocalNetwork/DNS to alter DNS settings and enable man-in-the-middle attacks on outbound connections to TVU cloud infrastructure.
