Acadlix LMS: Arbitrary file deletion via unprotected REST route
Summary
Acadlix LMS, a WordPress plugin for online courses and exams, contains a path validation flaw in the post_delete_assessment_file_by_id function. An attacker can delete arbitrary files on the server, and deleting files such as wp-config.php can lead to remote code execution. The REST route only checks a generic nonce that the plugin publishes on every frontend page, so the access requirement is effectively none. All versions up to and including 1.1.9 are affected.
Affected
- Acadlix LMS (WordPress plugin) all versions up to and including 1.1.9
Fixed in
Unknown. No fixed version found at the time of research. Check the WordPress.org changelog and the Wordfence advisory.
Workaround
- No vendor workaround found. - Deactivate and remove the plugin if it is not required. - If it must stay, restrict access to the affected REST route at the web server or WAF level. - Limit web server write and delete permissions on wp-config.php and plugin directories.
Exploitation
- No evidence of in-the-wild exploitation found. - No public proof of concept or scanner template indexed. - VulDB rates exploitation as easy, which is a rating and not evidence of exploitation.
Our recommendation
- Check whether the plugin is installed on any internet-facing WordPress site. - Deactivate and remove it if it is not needed. - If it is needed, restrict the REST route and monitor for missing or changed files in the WordPress root. - Keep offline backups and apply a fixed version as soon as the vendor releases one.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
The Acadlix LMS – AI Quiz Maker, Online Exam & Course Plugin for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the post_delete_assessment_file_by_id function in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.9. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php). The route's permission callback only verifies a generic wp_rest nonce that the plugin itself emits inside the public acadlixOptions JavaScript object on every frontend page, effectively reducing the authentication requirement to unauthenticated.
