CVE-2026-103688Critical 9.8Public exploit

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The WordPress plugin Checkout Files Upload for WooCommerce does not validate file types when its accepted file types setting is empty. Unauthenticated attackers can upload arbitrary files, including PHP files. On servers that execute PHP from the uploads directory, this can lead to remote code execution with access to shop and customer data. The CVSS base score is 9.8 according to the provided data, but NVD analysis is still pending.

Affected

  • Checkout Files Upload for WooCommerce versions before 2.4.0 (per WPScan)
  • Exact lowest affected version: Unknown.
  • Vulnerable condition: accepted file types setting left empty.

Fixed in

  • Update to version 2.4.0 or later.

Workaround

  • Set an explicit allowlist of file types in the plugin settings and verify that PHP uploads are blocked.
  • Block PHP execution in the uploads directory at the web server level.
  • Deactivate and remove the plugin if neither measure is possible.

Exploitation

  • No known exploitation in the wild (Threat Radar).
  • Not listed in CISA KEV.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact total.
  • Public proof of concept: Unconfirmed.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether the plugin is installed and which version is active.
  • Update to version 2.4.0 or later as a priority.
  • Until the update is applied, set an explicit file type allowlist and block PHP execution in the uploads directory.
  • Review the uploads directory for unexpected PHP or other executable files.
  • Monitor web server logs for unusual requests to the upload endpoint.
