iCagenda Joomla extension: Stored cross-site scripting (XSS)

CVE-2026-102790High 8.6

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The iCagenda event management extension for Joomla (versions 3.2.1 to 4.0.16) contains a stored cross-site scripting flaw in the url-type event custom field. An attacker with low privileges and some user interaction can store malicious script that runs in the browser of other users, such as administrators or staff who view event data in the backend. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.6 (High), with high impact on confidentiality and integrity.

Affected

  • iCagenda 3.2.1 to 4.0.16 (Joomla extension, icagenda.com)
  • The CNA title mentions 4.0.8 to 4.0.12, but the product entry and the NVD description state 3.2.1 to 4.0.16.

Fixed in

  • iCagenda 4.0.17 (Joomla 4, 5 and 6)
  • iCagenda PRO 3.9.17 (Joomla 3)
  • Unknown: whether a free Joomla 3 build contains the same fix.

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor workaround for this CVE has been found.

  • Interim measure from a related iCagenda XSS (CVE-2026-75948): restrict frontend event submission to trusted user groups until a patched version is installed. This is not confirmed for CVE-2026-102790.

Exploitation

  • Not known to be exploited in the wild (OffSeq). CISA KEV: not listed (Strix).
  • No public proof of concept found in our searches. This does not prove that none exists.
  • EPSS: 0.28 % (percentile 21).

Our recommendation

  • Inventory all Joomla websites with iCagenda and confirm the installed version.
  • Update to iCagenda 4.0.17 or, for Joomla 3, PRO 3.9.17. Confirm the free Joomla 3 position with the vendor.
  • Check whether the public event submission form is enabled and restrict it to trusted user groups.
  • Review event data for unexpected script content and monitor backend logins.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
