Workaround

  • No known workarounds according to the Juniper CVE record. Check the Juniper advisory JSA112188 for updates.

Exploitation

  • Juniper SIRT is not aware of any malicious exploitation.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether any Junos device runs an affected release and uses RADIUS authentication, especially subscriber or AAA RADIUS (show configuration).
  • Update affected devices to a fixed release from Juniper advisory JSA112188. Apply the whole advisory, as it contains further issues.
  • Restrict who can reach the RADIUS path and protect the RADIUS server and its traffic on a separate network segment.
  • Restrict management access to the devices and monitor authentication logs for anomalies.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
