Oracle MySQL Connector/J: Vulnerability allowing takeover via HTTP

CVE-2026-101768High 8.1

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A vulnerability in Oracle MySQL Connectors, component Connector/J, affects version 26.7.0 according to the CVE record. An unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP may be able to take over the connector, with high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability. The attack is rated difficult to exploit (AC:H), and the realistic exposure is internet-facing Java applications that bundle the driver rather than the MySQL server itself.

Affected

  • Oracle MySQL Connectors, component Connector/J, version 26.7.0 (per CVE record)
  • Possibly 26.7.1 (listed in Oracle's October 2026 CPU advisory excerpt; not yet confirmed)
  • Status of older 9.x branches: Unknown.

Fixed in

  • Connector/J 26.10.0 (GA release dated 2026-10-21, per vendor release notes; linkage to this CVE is secondary and should be confirmed in Oracle's advisory)

Workaround

  • None documented in the sources reviewed.
  • If an upgrade is delayed, restrict which hosts can reach the application and its HTTP interface.

Exploitation

  • CISA KEV listing: Unknown; check the catalogue directly.
  • Confirmed in-the-wild exploitation: none found in the sources reviewed.
  • Public proof of concept: none found.
  • EPSS: about 0.4% (low).
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory where Connector/J is bundled, including Maven, Gradle and WAR files and third-party software.
  • Prioritise internet-facing Java applications that use the driver.
  • Upgrade to Connector/J 26.10.0 or a fixed version confirmed in Oracle's October 2026 CPU advisory.
  • Note that Connector/J 26.7 documents support for MySQL 8.4 and later only; check MySQL 8.0 deployments.
  • Monitor HTTP access to affected applications until patched.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
