Oracle E-Business Suite Marketing: Improper access control in Audience component
Summary
Oracle Marketing, a module of Oracle E-Business Suite, contains an improper access control flaw (CWE-284) in the Audience component. An unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP can exploit it without user interaction and gain access to Oracle Marketing data, with high confidentiality impact and limited ability to update, insert or delete some data. Only installations with the Marketing module and reachable web tier are relevant.
Affected
- Oracle Marketing (Audience component) in Oracle E-Business Suite, supported versions 12.2.3 to 12.2.15
Fixed in
- Patch in the Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - October 2026. Exact patch number: Unknown.
- Apply the required Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware patches together with the EBS patch.
Workaround
- No vendor-specific workaround known. Unknown.
- Restrict access to the EBS web tier to trusted networks until patching is complete.
Exploitation
- No confirmed exploitation in the wild for this CVE. Public proof of concept: none found.
- Decoy observations of exploratory attempts against a different EBS flaw (CVE-2026-101767) have been reported; these are not proof of successful attacks on customers.
Our recommendation
- Check whether Oracle Marketing is installed and which EBS release is running.
- If installed, apply the October 2026 CPU patch for CVE-2026-101640 together with the required database and middleware patches.
- Until patched, limit EBS web-tier access to trusted networks.
- Also patch CVE-2026-101639 in the same cycle.
- Monitor the Oracle advisory and NVD for updates.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
