TOTOLINK X2000R: Unsigned firmware accepted by firmware update function
Summary
The boa web management interface of the TOTOLINK X2000R router (firmware TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327) does not properly verify the signature of uploaded firmware images. An authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted firmware file via HTTP and install it, which allows arbitrary firmware to be written to the device. Because the attacker needs administrative credentials, the practical risk is lower than for an unauthenticated flaw, but a successful attack gives persistent control over the router.
Affected
- TOTOLINK X2000R, firmware TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327
- No other versions are listed as affected in the CVE and Talos records.
Fixed in
Unknown. No vendor advisory or fixed firmware version was found at the time of writing.
Workaround
- No vendor-issued workaround known.
- Restrict access to the web administration interface to trusted LAN hosts and disable remote (WAN) management.
- Set a strong, unique administrator password.
Exploitation
- No known exploitation in the wild.
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, automatable no.
- No public exploit known.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all TOTOLINK X2000R devices and confirm the firmware version.
- Disable WAN administration, enforce strong admin passwords and separate the router from sensitive systems where possible.
- Check the TOTOLINK support pages regularly and apply a fixed firmware as soon as it is published.
- Plan replacement if no vendor fix becomes available.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
A Unsigned Firmware vulnerability exists in the boa Firmware Update functionality of X2000R (version(s): TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327). A specially crafted firmware binary can lead to arbitrary firmware update. An attacker can make an authenticated HTTP request to trigger this vulnerability.
