TOTOLINK X2000R: OS command injection in batchupg function
Summary
The batchupg function of the web administration interface of the TOTOLINK X2000R router firmware is affected by an OS command injection (CWE-78). An attacker with valid administrator-level credentials can send a specially crafted HTTP request that leads to arbitrary code execution on the device. The CVSS score is 9.1 (critical), but the attack requires high privileges and authentication, and no exploitation has been observed.
Affected
- TOTOLINK X2000R, firmware build TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 (only version listed)
Fixed in
Unknown.
Workaround
- Do not expose the web administration interface to the internet and disable remote management.
- Use a unique, strong admin password and restrict who can log in.
- Limit admin access to a management VLAN or specific IP addresses.
Exploitation
- CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no.
- Not listed in CISA KEV.
- EPSS about 0.0115 (low).
- No public proof of concept or exploitation reports found in the research.
Our recommendation
- Check whether the router's admin interface is reachable from the internet and close that exposure immediately.
- Verify that the admin password is unique and strong and that no default credentials are in use.
- Restrict admin access to trusted management addresses.
- Monitor the device for unexpected configuration changes, new accounts or unknown processes.
- Check TOTOLINK's support site for a fixed firmware build; if none is published, plan replacement of the device.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
