CGM CLININET: Unsalted MD5 password hashes enable credential recovery

CVE-2025-30049High 8.2

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

CGM CLININET, a hospital information system, stores user passwords as unsalted MD5 hashes. An attacker who obtains the password database can recover passwords with fast offline brute-force or dictionary attacks, which can lead to unauthorized access to the application. Exploitation requires access to the stored hashes, so the risk is highest when combined with another flaw in the same product.

Affected

  • CGM CLININET versions before 2026.MS1
  • CGM CLININET versions before 2026.MS3
  • Note: CERT Polska lists the vulnerable range as all versions before 2026.MS1 and before 2026.MS3. Whether 2026.MS2 is affected is unknown.

Fixed in

  • Fixed in CGM CLININET versions 2026.MS1 and 2026.MS3
  • Unknown: which release branch each fix applies to. Confirm the fixed build with CGM.

Workaround

Unknown. No specific workaround is documented; the sources point to upgrading.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of active exploitation found at publication.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact partial.

Our recommendation

  • Upgrade CGM CLININET to version 2026.MS3 or later, and apply the whole CLININET batch of October 2026 fixes, not only this CVE.
  • Confirm the fixed build with CGM before assuming any version is safe.
  • After upgrading, check whether existing passwords are re-hashed; if not, plan forced password resets for all accounts.
  • Restrict access to the application to the clinical network until patched.
  • Monitor for unusual logins and review account access.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
