Invetex WordPress theme: Unauthenticated PHP Object Injection

CVE-2026-62123Critical 9.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The Invetex WordPress theme by ThemeREX up to and including version 2.18 contains an unauthenticated PHP Object Injection flaw (CWE-502). A remote attacker without an account can send crafted input to the website, which may lead to arbitrary code execution on the server and full compromise of confidentiality, integrity and availability. Exploitation depends on gadget chains available in the site's code, which the sources do not address.

Affected

  • Invetex WordPress theme versions up to and including 2.18
  • Unknown whether newer versions exist; the official record lists the range inconsistently

Fixed in

Unknown. No fixed version has been published by the vendor or Patchstack at the time of research.

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround confirmed.
  • Deactivate and remove the theme where it is not needed; replacing it is the safer option.
  • Place a web application firewall or hosting-level virtual patch in front of the site, if available, and confirm that it covers this CVE.
  • Restrict access to admin and REST endpoints where feasible.

Exploitation

  • Known exploited: no (per current sources; CISA KEV listing: no).
  • EPSS: 0.00304.
  • Public proof of concept: not found.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory all WordPress sites, including staging and agency-managed sites, and check for the Invetex theme.
  • Record installed versions and treat versions up to 2.18 as vulnerable.
  • Contact ThemeREX or check for a fix; if none exists, plan to remove or replace the theme.
  • Apply interim WAF or virtual patching where available and review logs for suspicious POST requests.
  • Prioritise internet-facing sites; re-check the Patchstack entry and NVD regularly.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
