CVE-2026-118358High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 contains a memory corruption flaw in the WebAudio component. A remote attacker can potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. The attack requires that the victim opens the malicious page; no login is needed.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 (desktop)
  • CWE-119: Improper restriction of operations within the bounds of a memory buffer

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.73 or later (Windows and Mac: 156.0.8078.73/.74 or later)

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor-published workaround is available; updating is the remedy.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild; not listed in CISA KEV (as of the research notes).
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • EPSS: 0.36 % (percentile 30).

Our recommendation

  • Confirm that all Chrome installations run version 156.0.8078.73 or later (check chrome://settings/help or via MDM).
  • Ensure automatic updates work and check for offline or pinned endpoints.
  • Install the whole Chrome Stable update of 27 October 2026, which contains further security fixes.
  • Re-check the exploitation status in CISA KEV and with Google.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
