Google Chrome: Memory corruption in Scroll allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-113337High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome contains a memory corruption flaw in its Scroll component (CWE-119). A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox if a user visits a crafted HTML page. Full compromise would normally require a further sandbox escape, which is not described in the CVE data. The CVSS 8.8 score is as listed in the CVE data and has not been verified against NVD.

Affected

  • Google Chrome builds prior to 156.0.8078.47, per the CVE description
  • The version range in the CNA record is internally inconsistent; the CVE description is treated as authoritative

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 or later (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android)
  • Later point releases also include the fix
  • Chromium-based browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, receive the fix through their own updates

Workaround

  • No workaround is needed where the update is applied; the fix is a browser update.
  • Enterprise policy controls or browser-level mitigations for Scroll: Unknown.

Exploitation

  • Exploited in the wild: Unknown (none found; not checked against the CISA KEV catalogue).
  • Public proof of concept: Unknown (none found).
  • CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Verify that all Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (including Edge) are at 156.0.8078.47 or later via Help > About Google Chrome.
  • Ensure automatic browser updates are enabled and that browsers are restarted after updates.
  • Prioritise endpoints with heavy web browsing and remind users about phishing links.
  • Confirm the CVSS score and entry status in the NVD before relying on them.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
