Google Chrome for Android: Memory corruption in CustomTabs

CVE-2026-113330High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A memory corruption flaw (CWE-119) in the CustomTabs component of Google Chrome for Android allows a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attacker needs to lure a user to a crafted HTML page, so user interaction is required and no login is needed. Chromium rates the issue Low, and the CVSS base score is 8.8 according to NVD. Full device compromise would normally also require a separate sandbox escape, which is an inference and not a source statement.

Affected

  • Google Chrome on Android prior to 156.0.8078.47 (according to the CNA description)
  • The affected version range is inconsistent across sources; VulDB lists up to 155.0.8059.84, and some aggregators show an invalid range.

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome for Android 156.0.8078.47 or later (according to secondary sources; the vendor advisory was not verified directly)
  • Later Android builds may also exist; check the current Play Store version.

Workaround

  • Unknown. No vendor workaround has been identified. Installing the update is the remediation.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild has been found.
  • No public proof of concept has been found.
  • VulDB shows a "0-Day" label, which is a VulDB classification and not a confirmed exploitation report; treat it as unverified.
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Confirm that Chrome on all Android devices, including staff phones, is at 156.0.8078.47 or later.
  • Enforce automatic updates through MDM or Google Play management.
  • Check whether apps on managed devices use Custom Tabs and keep them updated.
  • Monitor the Google advisory and the Chromium issue for changes in exploitation status.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
