Google Chrome: Use-after-free in ANGLE graphics layer

CVE-2026-113250High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome contains a use-after-free flaw in ANGLE, its graphics abstraction layer. A remote attacker can use a crafted HTML page to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The victim only needs to open the page, and no login is required. Google rates the issue Medium severity, and the sandbox limits the impact on its own.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.47 (CNA description). VulDB lists a different range (up to 155.0.8059.84); the CNA description is used here.

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 (per CVE description; not verified against the vendor advisory)
  • Later builds should include the fix (inference)
  • Microsoft Edge 156.0.4314.42 (HKCERT)

Workaround

  • None needed when the patched version is installed.
  • No vendor workaround identified.

Exploitation

  • No known exploitation in the wild; CISA SSVC: Exploitation none; Strix lists it as not in KEV.
  • No public proof of concept found; exploit databases not checked.
  • VulDB estimates exploit price at USD 5k–25k; this is a market estimate, not evidence of use.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 156.0.8078.47 or later on all endpoints; automatic updates are the fastest route.
  • Also update Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based browsers, and restart the browser after updating.
  • Check installed versions across endpoints rather than relying on third-party version data alone.
  • Monitor for browser updates and unusual browser behaviour.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
