Google Chrome: Memory corruption in WebUI

CVE-2026-113148High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome versions before 156.0.8078.47 contain a memory corruption flaw in WebUI (CWE-119). A remote attacker can use a crafted HTML page to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attack requires that a user opens the page, for example by clicking a link or visiting an attacker-controlled site. Chromium rates the issue Medium; NVD lists CVSS 8.8 High.

Affected

  • Google Chrome versions prior to 156.0.8078.47
  • Desktop builds on Windows, macOS and Linux
  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based): HKCERT lists versions prior to 156.0.4314.42

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 (Linux)
  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.48 (Windows, macOS, according to Wikipedia; verify on Google's release page)
  • Microsoft Edge 156.0.4314.42 or later (HKCERT)
  • Debian chromium updates DSA 6577-1 and DLA 4853-1 (verify exact package versions)
  • Ubuntu marks its chromium-browser snap wrapper as not affected

Workaround

Unknown. No workaround is listed in the sources reviewed; updating is the fix.

Exploitation

  • No evidence found of in-the-wild exploitation or a public proof of concept.
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no.
  • Status is unconfirmed, so check CISA KEV and Google's advisory for updates.

Our recommendation

  • Update Chrome and Edge on all endpoints to the latest Stable build from Google's or Microsoft's release page; a relaunch is required to apply updates.
  • Check browser versions on all workstations, including machines where the browser is rarely closed.
  • Give priority to internet-facing user workstations, given the user-interaction vector and the lack of a workaround.
  • Monitor for updates to the advisory and to CISA KEV.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
