Langflow OSS: Code injection allows remote code execution
Summary
IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.4 contain a code injection flaw (CWE-94) that lets a remote attacker with a valid low-privilege account execute arbitrary code on the server. No user interaction is required. Code runs inside the Langflow process, which can expose workflow data, credentials and connected model, database or tool services. Sources list CVSS 8.8 or 9.9 depending on the scope assessment.
Affected
- IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.12.4
Fixed in
- Upgrade to Langflow OSS 1.12.5 (IBM bulletin 7293016)
Workaround
- No CVE-specific workaround documented.
- For MCP stdio deployments, IBM recommends setting LANGFLOW_MCP_SERVER_INTERPRETER_HARDENING=true and LANGFLOW_CUSTOM_COMPONENT_ADMIN_ONLY=true, then restarting Langflow. This does not replace the upgrade.
- Keep public custom-component execution disabled (default setting).
Exploitation
- Not known to be exploited; not listed in CISA KEV at the time of research.
- CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical impact total.
- Public proof-of-concept availability is unknown.
- EPSS: 0.82 % (percentile 57).
Our recommendation
- Inventory all Langflow OSS instances, including test and development systems.
- Upgrade to 1.12.5 or later and test your flows.
- If MCP stdio is used, apply the IBM configuration controls.
- Restrict access to Langflow (VPN or allow-list) and review accounts and logs.
- Rotate API keys and credentials that the Langflow host can reach.

Original description (NVD)
